My turn-around point. There was a wood plank to sit on and I had a lunch packed. |

I can't vouch where the trail goes from here. I walked it a little ways, and it just kept going down. The only thing I saw was a modern village in the distance, but I suspect that the trail, at least a spur, would go toward the Inca settlements by the river, that I saw from the train. |

Heading back I noticed that the sky was getting a little friendlier, although mostly I was busy looking down, watching my step. It can be a bit treachrous, and a fall way out here. It could be a day before you're found. |

There was a water hazard which did give me a scare. My old worn-out Merrils have |
lousy grip on wet rock and there was a steep drop on one side |
